Mark your calendars!

9th International C. difficile Symposium (ICDS)

Dates: September 8–10, 2026, Bled, Slovenia

Further details and registration information will be available soon.

Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) is the leading cause of healthcare or community associated disease in many developed nations worldwide, and increasingly a cause of disease in animals.

The International C. difficile Symposium (ICDS) is now established as the premiere venue for the review of Clostridium difficile research.

The 1st meeting was held in Kranjska Gora in 2004, the 2nd in Maribor in 2007, while all further meetings were in Bled in 2010, 2012, 2015, 2018 and in 2024. ICDS in 2020 was held virtually.

The 2026 meeting will provide a forum for the C. difficile community to exchange knowledge across disciplines, from epidemiology and diagnostics to clinical trials and basic research, fostering innovative approaches to understanding pathogenesis and improving disease control.

Selected presentations from previous ICDS meetings were published in Anaerobe special issues: https://www.sciencedirect.com/journal/anaerobe/special-issues
