2020 – Virtual meeting
Virtual ICDS in 2020!
International C. difficile Symposium (ICDS) is the main venue where C. difficile community meet regularly every two or three years. The 7th ICDS was planned to be again held in Bled on 8-10 September, 2020 and was initially cancelled due to the pandemic. Subsequently, organizing committee decided to move online and ICDS 2020 was held as a virtual meeting.
As previously, the 2020 meeting has provided the ideal opportunity to review progress in both understanding C. difficile infection pathogenesis and controlling the devastating disease C. difficile causes.
To accommodate ICDS international audience from various time zones, we run ICDS as a weekly series with a two hour session per week for six weeks which turned out as a very good model. For some sessions started early in the morning, for others in the afternoon or late in the evening. Most sessions had two invited talks and one short selected presentation followed by poster session.
Registration was compulsory but free of charge. The use of Zoom platform was generously provided by the Newcastle University and managed by prof. Paula Salgado, one of the OC members.
This was the biggest ICDS ever with 448 participants from 39 countries from all continents, so the online version has increased the audience and the number of represented countries.
ICDS 2020 included the Poster session and posters are available under https://www.icds.si/posters-2020/
