4th International Clostridium difficile Symposium
International Clostridium difficile symposium series have started in 2003 with aim of bringing together researchers from different fields such as epidemiology, toxinology, molecular biology, clinics, diagnostics… Since the first meeting major advances have been made in terms of our basic understanding of the disease process, epidemiology, typing and diagnosis, treatment options, and intervention strategies.
The 1st meeting was held in Kranjska Gora in 2004 (70 delegates), the 2nd in Maribor in 2007 (120 delegates), and the 3rd in Bled in 2010 (204 delegates from more than 20 countries). ICDS is now established as the premiere venue for the review of Clostridium difficile research.
The 4th ICDS will again follow tradition of giving the recent overview on C. difficile related research and emerging topics and of setting the frame for establishing new networks.
